Students, alumni, faculty, and visitors.
In light of current concerns about the Coronavirus, the Biola Film Festival team has chosen to move the festival and ceremony online. We will be live-streaming the awards ceremony on April 18th, the same day previously reserved for the event. Details will be added as we iron them out, and please continue to check our social media for updates. While we regret that we cannot facilitate an in-person gathering this semester, we all agree it’s important to put our community’s health ahead of the festival.
That said, please keep submitting your films! The deadline to submit is Friday, March 20th. We still want to see your work and are looking for ways to provide secure screenings online for the nominated films.
Our team also thought this would be a good time to announce that we’ve chosen to re-brand the film festival after discussions with faculty and fellow students. We’ve all agreed that, in order to go back to CMA’s roots, we’ll be calling ourselves the Guerrilla Student Film Festival. Older students may recall the Guerrilla Film Club, where students would meet to watch films, showcase their work and have it critiqued by their peers, and celebrate the spirit of cinema in solidarity together. We hope to appeal to this former scene from CMA’s history as the festival continues to grow during these difficult times.
More information will be forthcoming as we develop our strategy together. We will be praying for you all as the global situation continues, and we hope to provide you with something beautiful and joyous we can celebrate even if it is from afar.
